Interesting observation about Acura, geko29. I wonder whether it may even have to do with the number of syllables in the short Acura name. If it were something like "Mercedes Benz Legend" then perhaps it would have worked better.

One possible issue is that names can imbue too much characteristics into a vehicle, while letter combinations are safely anonymous. So while the Vigor was a flop, the 3.2 TL was a success. And now it's just TL.

But then again, the CL and RL have flopped; RL did better when it was "Legend."
