Actually in Japan & some European/Asian countries, the LS460 only comes in SWB, only the 600hL comes in LWB for them, so if AWD will indeed be coming for the LS460, I think it will be available somewhere in the world, just not N.America.

Yes, that's a LOT of money to put into a car, but drive a new 460 and see for yourself (if you have not done so). Like the Acura RL, the 460 is almost intoxicating to drive....and it beats the RL in some areas outside of traction and hardware quality. An AWD 460, of course, would remove the RL's traction advantage.

I drove a LS460h at the Taste of Lexus. Very nice ride, nice car. A boat, but I expected it to be. I preferred how the 7 series handled but I think if I were to choose a car that size, handling would be further down my list of priorities than normal.
LS, 7 series, A8, etc. I wish I could be put in that situation.

Interesting how Car&Driver is well-liked after a favorable review of a Lexus...but this is just the First Drive, wait for that comparison test with the A8 and big V12 Merc. Once Lexus brings up the rear in that test, then the Car&Driver haters can go back to showing their disdain for the magazine.
Thank goodness you guys aren't testing cars...just imagine how prejudiced those reviews would be. Toyota would win damn near every comparison test...why? because they last the longest. LOL
I still would prefer a 600hl without AWD and ****. That would be nice. Saving weight and also being able to lower that baby without interfering with the electronics.
But I love where Lexus is taking us with all this hybrid and suspension technology, because it's going to make for some very interesting high-performance cars in the next 5 years. Go LEXUS!

I beg your pardon, sir. Try reading some of my reviews....right here on CAR CHAT. I don't think you will find them prejudiced at all. I write a list of " PLUSSES:" and "MINUSES:" for each vehicle.
