that's probably cause its been repainted and they weren't able to match the paint. Lexus doesn't do factory 2-tone paint schemes anymore like they were with the older ES and LS.

All urethane bumpers from every manufacturer will change color over time even though they are painted on the same line. Could be a year (09-99 GS400 Pearl whites had this issue) to several years.
If yours is a newer car then it sounds as if your bumper was repainted.

I can answer this question with some input to back what other's have said. Well working at Toyota, I know that they paint the bumpers in-house, however, the color discrepency is mostly due to the fact that:

1) Bumpers are made of plastic and not metal!
2) They usually get painted in different shops!
3) Once they mold and fabricate them, it would be installed during the assembly process! (i.e. My Line)!

Some times salesmen will have "little accidents" (I did'nt see that big yellow pole thats 4 feet tall and the same around) and the dealer (that’s me) will fix it. Some times the paint match will be close but almost never exact.

Thank god as I hated the two-tone on my RX enough that when I got the chance I went all black.

Many, most(?), bumpers, hood scoops, spoilers and other plastic items are painted by the suppliers, or by the manufacturer in a different shop. I had a car and I got into a fender bender. When I took it into the shop the technician said they would even up the fender and bumper colors. When he pointed out the slight difference in color between the fender and bumper I could see there was a slight difference because they were painted at different times in different places. It was subtle, but it was there. Most people won't recognize it, though.

i thought original cars were manufactured with premiered color, then assembled and then painted which takes place all in the factory. doesnt sound smart to have pre-painted stuff and then assemble them seeing how they can easily get scratched during the assembly.

Okay guys,

Seems like there is still a little confusion!

Having seen bunch of different manufacturers and working at Toyota, IMO what manufacturers do is that they will have different shops from stamping to assembly. Assembly being the last one and stamping being the first one. So between there all cars are tracked and bumpers are made at the same plant & by same manufacturer and would be delievered to bumper installation process in assembly so many times a day. That is where they install bumpers to the rest of the car! So, the car and bumpers DO NOT get painted at the same time and in the same shop. The main reason you see the difference is mostly due to the fact that you're comparing plastic vs. metal! Trust me, I've been working on bumpers for the last 6 months.
