CHP 11/99 foundation
Hey, anyone ever heard of this?
Apparently, someone makes a donation to CHP (California Highway Patrol), and they get a badge and a license plate frame that says "11 99 Foundation" The membership fee is ~$3000/year.
These frames, from what I hear, are close to get out of jail free cards. Officers have been known to let speeders go, and what not.
Just curious to see if any if you guys have heard of this. And everything I wrote above is from rumors, I never got a real answer.

Sounds no different than a Policemans Benevolent Association card to me.
Officers DO NOT have to let you go. They may choose to, but they may also not choose to. It is their discretion. Cheaper to just not drive like a moron.

no. its no rumor. its a real thing. ive seen the liscence plate frames on many ferrari's, porsche's, ford GT's and Lambo's and other cars over at the cars and coffee meet in irvine at the Ford headquartes. i was quite amazed at it myself. as you said, it is pretty much a get out of jail free card. if one of those guys gets pulled over for speeding or what not, the CHP officer will recognize the frame over the liscence plate and more than likely let the driver go. i believe you get a membership car with the CHP too. crazy stuff. its more so like "Cant get a ticket insurance" but its disguised as a donation to the department.

addtionally,
when you make a donation of ~$3000, the CHP knows that these guys are just looking to speed a little in a safe luxury/sports car. these guys are not "criminals".

I have seen several of those frames around here in San Diego, and they are always attached to a very nice car.
A good cause to be sure, but I am betting most that have them really do view it as a ticket protector.

i knew someone that actually made the frames for the 11-99 foundation...he gave one to my friend for helping him with all his car mods...wish i was there that day. But i guess if you get pulled over and you dont have the card to w/ the frame it's more of 50/50 shot that you will get a ticket.
