The 'Vette engine is like this too. Terrific power and good fuel economy. It actually won a couple awards a few years ago IIRC. However, it's really just too dated.

Honda engines, while efficient, are just too peaky in the HP and torque curves. They don't have enough low-end torque, and therefore require too many RPM's for max power and typical American driving.
One thing that DOES surprise me, however, is the notable lack this year of the Nissan/Infiniti 3.5/3.7L V6's...some of the best V6's on the market.
