Congrats to BMW.

The 335i feels pretty powerful yet so refined and smooth.

Good thing that I have my 335i arriving in the middle of next month

I have premoded it already with all kind of toys that are awaiting for the car in my garage.

There are a LOT of good engines in this catagory. I'd be hard pressed to say the Toyota 3.5 V6 is better than the Porsche engine. Not much of a revver either? Not terribly sophiscated, not much technology.

The 'Vette engine is like this too. Terrific power and good fuel economy. It actually won a couple awards a few years ago IIRC. However, it's really just too dated.

Having owned a couple of BMW's I will give their engines a nod. The engines in the two cars that I owned were problem free, smooth and like the article said produced great power with great efficiency. They truly do a nice job in this department.

Honda engines, while efficient, are just too peaky in the HP and torque curves. They don't have enough low-end torque, and therefore require too many RPM's for max power and typical American driving.

One thing that DOES surprise me, however, is the notable lack this year of the Nissan/Infiniti 3.5/3.7L V6's...some of the best V6's on the market.
