Before you see the video I must advertiros that he is not apt for sensible people, and who probably the pilot of the Ferrari has not left with life.
The accident took place in a competition in a Japanese circuit, the strong rain and the bad luck caused the accident. That it serves us to remember that, not even in circuit, the cars are exentos of risks.
Update: In the commentaries they point us at a second video in which it is possible to be seen that the pilot leaves alive, and walking almost by its own foot.

Very scary, but I can't say much for the reaction of the ground staff. Very slow to react, and when they drag the driver out they leave him alone while they do something else. Very amateurish.
Hope the driver didn't have any permanent disabilities.

Both cars caught on fire right a way!! OMG, and I don't understand why they pull the driver from the Ferrari out, and left it on the ground so close to the car, and also unattended for a while! what if the car explode again??
The staff needs to be trained more!!!
Hope they will be OK...

F1 tracks have much better medical and disaster staff
also much better safety standards
thats why i prefer watching F1 now, less scary stuff like this seeing the driver crawling in pain

F1 has a good safety team though their performance when Ralf crashed at Indy was not good. CART used to have the best safety team out there (Zanardi lived because of them) though I'm not so sure if they are still at the top since they switched doctors a couple years back.

Wow, thats one of the scariest crashes i've seen. I"ve never witnessed such a huge explosion like that on impact.
The response of that emergency crew and the lack of training they had is scarier. I was always thinking of being a weekend warrior and working toward an SCCA license when I'm older. However, if a professional race has such poor safety measures, who knows about the more amateur ones.
As soon as he was extracated from the car and moved a SAFE distance away, someone should've braced his head straight until they get him on a backboard. If he had any cervical spinal injury, letting him get up and move around could've paralyzed him or ruptured the vertebral arteries.
Glad he survived.
