How is my analogy void?
You used roush/saleen as examples - both aftermarket, like dinan
The Cobro is a special model, like the IF-S will be.
I'd say the cobra is a special model too in that less than 5% of mustangs are cobras.
In any case, the Cobra is supercharged. If both motors are supercharged, i think they'll perform similarly.
The argument is moot anyway since the original comparison is v6 to v6.

I run synthetic oil, and follow all the maintenance guidelines. As far as highway driving, it's 70 MPH (max) all the way. I make every effort to maximize mileage by minimizing throttle input, coasting down hills, etc. Tires all inflated to 32 PSI. Mileage stinks.
I know it's not my driving style or maintenance habits, because I've always been able to achieve (or improve upon) the mileage estimates in the Hondas I've owned, as well as the 2 BMWs. The S2000 I owned would regular reward me with 30+ MPG in mixed driving, even though it was rated at 25 MPG highway.
I really think there might be something wrong with the Lexus because the engine performance is pretty lackluster for how much torque it puts out. But like Threxx mentioned, good luck convincing Toyota of that.

I would troubleshoot step-by-step to try and find the problem.

I had a Ford Tempo in the 90's and if you want uninspiring, look no further. My 1995 Camry feels like a Maybach compared to that junk. The Chevy Malibu's also fit that bill. Rented one a few times and it was one of the worse cars I have ever driven. It handles more like a smaller Chevy Astro van.

No you don't.
Maybe a Cobra with a pulley and exhaust. But thats not stock. Its like people talking about a "stock supra", but neglect to mention its got the spring mod, downpipe, catback, and a few other things.
STOCK S/C prev-gen body Cobras run mid-low 13s, and 12s with DRs or a really good launch on regular radials. Trust me. I live in cobra-tuning central. Johnson motorsports was located about 10-15 minutes from my parents house. Two of my good friends worked there. I know exactly what those cars are capable of and have seen my fair share. A 4000lb boat that makes 380whp stock isn't fast enough to run 113mph traps.
