No, again, you are missing the point. Fact is you CANNOT rule the world so your advice falls on deaf ears here. If you want to post about speeding and the religous implications of it along with MMarshalls driving advice, start a new thread.
Fact is people WILL and do speed. We are not discussing that. So unless you have something relevant to the original post-start a new thread please.

I have a Passport X50 and I love the unit. My friend's V1 IMO is annoying. It has a lot of false alarms.

I guess I wont be using their website anymore for test advice.

People do speed. Most of the time, I find myself driving 5-10mph over the speed limit because that's the speed people are driving at. If I drive at speed limit, I'll be slowing down traffic and the cops might give me a ticket for slowing down everyone else. It happened many times already (not to me though).

Just last year Hawaii passed a new law making anything over 80MPH (Including freeways and anything over 20MPH over the posted speed limit a felony and you face jail and they impound your car as well as a loss of license. So far I don't think anyone has been charged with this yet but it is only a matter of time.

 

nop, in cali i believe it's 30 over, or over 100mph. 80 is nothing in cali (in terms of violations)

 

Thats probably how it is in Florida, though I couldn't find any hard documentation saying what the rules were.

Its definitely 90 or 100 because I had a ticket for going 87 and I still don't have any points thanks to traffic school.

 

My thoughts exactly. An intelligent person isn't the jackrabbit. He/she is the person making him/herself the least noticeable by staying out of the far left lane(s), maintaining a reasonable speed, and not doing things that make you stand out in the crowd.


In the 3 years that I've lived here, I think that I've seen, maybe, 5 people pulled over for driving offenses. Cops here are the most indifferent and tolerant that I've ever seen. Which explains why people drive so poorly in FL. If there's no recourse to your actions, there's no reason to change what you're doing.

 

yep this has been going on for years, back in 2002 I emailed Craig. He hates the V1 for some reason. Yet we all know it is *THE* detector to have, STILL. I guess now I know why, he works with a competitor.

 

Saying the V1 is "*THE* detector to have" overlooks many things.

- It gives more false positives
- It's still bulky
- It doesn't have neat features like the GPS to mark locations like on the 9500

Yes it has arrows and very good sensitivity, but even that is useless as more and more police use laser which detectors may detect but they might as well just put "busted" on the display when they do.

 

Guy's try not to muck this thread up with V1 vs the world post as they get very ugly and most people that post on them never had the other to even compare their unit to. Same for the laws of the road. Stick to the original thread.
If you want a ,"my detector is better than yours" thread -go start one. I intend to do that once I get my V1 and compare to my Bel and Escort.
