Spy photos: 2009 Acura NSX test mule spotted in Germany
It's been awhile since we heard anything about the 2009 Acura NSX. It was over a year ago when Honda officials confirmed a V10 engine for the next-generation NSX, but since then all we've heard or seen out of Japan was the Sports Car Concept shown in Detroit. These latest spy photos taken just outside the Nurburgring suggest work is still very much in progress. This chopped up S2000 features four tailpipes in back and a heavy-duty double wishbone suspension. There's also a makeshift hardtop and some big time wheels and tires. Stay tuned for more shots when this prototype hits the 'Ring.

told you those IS-F exhausts would catch on. Although it is still a mule, they could change it from the stacked ones. Looks like they just stuck S2000 taillights on it.

I'm willing to be the engine is in the back. Look at the exhaust setup and to me....or maybe I'm just imagining....the rear looks longer than in a regular S2000.
Anyway, bring it on. This car can't come fast enough. Waiting patiently for the LF-A/GT-R/NSX comparo

That's pretty clever of Honda to throw on the s2000's rear end. Instead of masking it all up with black tape, just throw off the viewer's imagination with parts in the recycling bin I would imagine the first mod of 95% future NSX owners would be a new exhaust. The stacked exhaust looks hideous.

Well, Andrew, what do YOU think? Is that really the new NSX, or just the next S2000? ( Hey...maybe even a new Prelude?)
You and I have discussed, several times, Honda's and Acura's up-and-down yo-yo programs on a NSX replacement....and whether it would be a V8, V10, or just another V6.
Under the skin, this COULD be the NSX, of course, if they want to disguise it that much....but on the surface it sure looks like a lesser Honda product.
Is a so-called "confirmation" of the new NSX, even now, worth the paper it is written on? I said earlier.....remember?.......I'd believe it when I saw it. Of course, maybe we ARE seeing it......but that sure looks more like a possible new Prelude to me than an NSX.

Damn... so they are going to jump from a potent v6 to a v10... wow! So, are the speculations still that they are going back to a midship design or they going to stick with the front mounted GT? I remember reading somewhere that Honda has scrapped the concept design and decided to redo the engine placement... if so... that's going to be one hell of an engine bay...

Yes, wow, IF you believe them...see my response above to Robarapta. Honda and Acura have been up and down like a yo-yo on the new NSX. And the fact that this car looks more like an ordinary Honda sports car may be yet another sign.

With Honda & Toyota being pretty much arch-rivals, I don't see them putting anything less than a V10 after the announcement that the LF-A would be one.

This is no way a S2000 refresh. The platform is stretched. That's obvious but we don't know for what car.
I think it's front engine. I zoomed in on the exhaust image, the top pipes are fake and not attached to the rest of the exhaust piping. There are pipes leading to the center muffler that look to go up towards the front.
