Lexus is ready for the battle !
After the L600h and L600hL which set the standard of luxury sedans to a whole new level and offer a real alternative to the German manufacturers, Lexus, probably helped by the almighty Toyota has been sharpening his tools and looks ready for the battle !
The news come from the Japanese magazine "Car-Top" and even though those are rumours, we all know how it goes nowadays in the automotive industry, there is no time to waste with false informations. The big "L" has got 3 new weapons on their way.
Firstly the Lexus IS, challenging cars such as the BMW 3 series or Mercedes C Class, should soon be adding a convertible version to the lineup, a great news for all those who want to enjoy the upcoming summer in the best dispositions, no infos on the type of engine there will be under the right foot yet.
The second news will please all the Motorsport fans like myself, especially in the United States of America because Lexus has never been closer to enter the American Le Mans Series with the IS-F, to compete in the GT2 class alongside the Ferrari F430 and Porsche 997 GT.
Last but not least, Lexus is bringing something on the table for all the supercar lovers, the LF-A, considered by some as the new Toyota Supra, will mean business: 570HP and 320+kmh (200+mph) on the speedometer.
An impressive triple offensive by Lexus and we can't wait to know more !

If Lexus wanted to they could take over the world by storm but they are way too humble and conservative to do that. I can't wait for the LF-A, IS-F, IS coupe convertible, GS-F, RX-F and anything else Lexus puts out. Throughout Lexus history the only model that was discontinued was the good 'ol SC 300. Let's see what Lexus does next...

From everything I've seen in the past 2 years, Toyota/Lexus is taking over the automtive world. New, desireable models and redesigns everywhere you look. New engines, new transmissions. New new new. I don't see anything there that would leave me to believe that Lexus is one bit humble or conservative when it comes to gaining market share.

Good news, if true.
I am absolutely looking forward to these 3 new items from Lexus: 1) LF-A, which seems all but confirmed, 2) IS coupe, which hopefully will be sleeker and have a more interesting C-pillar than the rendering, and 3) IS GT2 competitor, if they can resolve their issues.

Yes, bring back the dimensions and long sleek style of the original SC, but add L-finesse to it; and have a convertible style and the opulence of the SC 430. And bring it a sporty comportment as well.

I personally think the IS should have a hardtop vert. and coupe just as Audi, BMW, and MB all do, but it should not look like that. I think it looks pretty bad just by chopping 2 doors off and not having a room. They should take a page from BMW (who defined and continues to rule this segment for the time being) and make the coupe different enough looking from the sedan to distinguish it. Look at the differences between the E90 and E92/3. Imagine how ****ty the 3 series cabrio would look using the E90 back end?
Thats what that chop of the IS looks to me. MB did the same thing about differentiating coupe and sedan, just not as much as BMW. Audi didn't because their A4 body looks good enough as a drop top to have to change it.
