Default I spied: Evolution X in disguise?

Sup guys.

So I was driving home from school today, around 2:30pm on the 605 heading North, near Cerritos Auto Square. I spotted this weird looking EVO-VII, the weird interior caught my eyes. RHD, mechanical differences from EVO-VIII.

Before I merged onto the 91 freeway, I snapped a few pics with my trusted DC (I always keep it handy in my car now). Here are the pics:

Exterior of an EVO-VII:

Closer:

Side view:

dual exhausts (why the 1 inch tips?)

new-Lancer looking interior?

RHD. Fake driver on the passenger side (or is that the driver side?)

Weird bulge on the hood.

I don't know, seems like an EVO-X but with EVO-VII sheet metals. What do you guys think?

that thing does not look like an evo x at all...even chassis-wise. it has dual exhaust though and RHD, but either way it doens't look like an evo x at all.

i think that's a wannabe jdm evo--not a EvoX in disguise. it's a totally different vehicle.

Look carefully, blue manufacturer plates. This is an Evo X test mule.

The other giveaways are the unusual RHD dashboard, crude-looking flared wheel arches & bulge on the hood.

Bingo... exactly what I was about to post. Blue plate and the crudeness of the car is a giveaway.

Here is a picture of the 2008 Lancer interior. I can't really tell if there is a difference or not, but they don't look too similar on first glance...

It's definitely different than the 2006 interior though...

why would this be a test mule when the Evo-X is already close to production and various journalists have driven it already. the platform is shared with the Outlander which has been out for a good year now.

i saw the blue plates, but the reason why i don't see why this is a evo x is because the evo x is a bigger car, and those tailpipes--that such narrow pipes on a performance car that REQUIRES good breathing for its turbos... doesn't seem likely that this is a real evo x in disguise. if anything we should be seeing the real Evo x cars testing--not these.

Nissan tested the new GT-R chassis/engine inside a G35 coupe shell before, so having an EVO-X hiding inside a VIII shell isn't all that impossible. If the car isn't even officially reveiled as the production model, they might well be testing it in a shell.

Plus, dual exhausts on a 2.0 can't get much bigger. Look at the exhausts on the EVO-X sample model. It's not any bigger than the test mule, with chrome tips.

The interior looks NOTHING like the current Lancers so I don't think it's just a wannabe JDM EVO. If anything it resembles the new Lancer interior more.

Interesting. The new Lancer is really ugly IMO.

thats some jdm evo wanna-be...

interior - who knows - maybe a jdm version of the EVO, or even Lancer...

the Lancer Evo10 is final - has been for a while... there would be no reason to have one disguised any more... especially as RHD...
