The Ultimate Mustang.....Super Snake.
Hope this is not a repost.
Most of you know that I am not a speed freak by any means, and that, outside of its durable live rear axle, I have a very low opinion of the new Mustang's general build quality. But, speed freak or not, here is one of the most interesting versions of the Mustang I've seen yet, and I've seen them all.....Mach1, Boss, GT, Cobra, Cobra R, KR, SVT, Saleen, Roush, you name it.
Carroll Shelby, perhaps the man who did the most to make the Mustang the icon it eventually became, has done it again. He has taken the new Mustang......even his own new 500 HP Cobra GT.....and one-upped it (or rather two-upped it), by special conversion package, into perhaps the most powerful street Mustang ever built.

The standard Super Snake will have 600 HP, six-piston brakes with cooling ducts, hood pins like the original Boss and Mach1 I grew up with almost 40 years ago, and a full Ford warranty. A little more cash will get you a 725 HP version minus the warranty (I guess they figure that is just too much power for some of the components).
While it could be argued that the Corvette Z06 is the super snake's natural competitor, the car actually appears to be aimed more at the semi-competition versions of the Viper, especially the Viper coupe.
Snake vs. Snake......this is going to be an interesting comparison on the track.
I have only one real concern with this car. V8 Mustangs, on the average, kill and injure more teen-agers than any other single car in the country....I have written and posted much about this. The Super Snake, of course, is a limited-production, big-power and big-money machine that the average teen-ager is not going to be able to afford, but for those few young or immature drivers that CAN afford something like, I'm afraid it is going to be a deathtrap on wheels. Look at, for instance, all of the Ferrari Enzos, Lamborghinis, and Porsche GT's that have been wrecked, considering the small number of them that have been sold.

Yes, I agree......on drag strip with straight-line acceleration, but it sits higher off the ground than a Z06, and has a higher center of gravity. That could give it less secure cornering than a Z06. It will probably also weigh more, with the Corvette's lightweight fiberglass body.
I think the Viper is its real target, though, with the top-level Viper's 600 HP-plus and 1-G cornering. It may take the Viper in a straight line but, again, cornering may be a question.

Its going to a beast but with my (roughly)$75k i'd rather rock a ZO6 any day of the week. The best thing it has going for it is the fact its covered under warranty, I mean it is a ford and every one knows what FORD stands for.
Lets see what Dodge does to respond to this. Isn't Chevy coming out with a 600hp 'Blue Devil' Vette?
Also, I wonder if Lingenfelter upgrades for the Vette is covered under warranty. They have a twin turbo Lingenfilter C6 ZO6 around here, i'm gonna have to ask him one day(if I can catch him, lol)

A Base C6 with the Z51 package can out handle a GT500 and is only slower in the 1/4 by about .03 IIRC

The 600 HP version has a factory warranty. The 725 HP version doesn't....for more or less obvious reasons.
