and trust me, I can load a MINI to cost more than the TCH or Passat TDI. The MINI is not cheap to purchase nor maintain. The other two are.

Unless they are referring to strictly brand-new 2007 models, they also forgot the Scion xA, xB, and the VW diesels. The 2006 xA and xB get roughly the same mileage as the Yaris.....not surprising, since they are built on the same platform and drivetrains. The VW diesels, of course, (dropped temporarily this year until new ones arrive next year), are phenominal in their mileage...they far outdo any of the vehicles on this list and, in some cases, even outdo the Prius and Civic Hybrids.
