Definitely only on pearl white cars.

And how can you tell between platinum badging and say, regular silver ones?!

The Platinum badging is black/dark gray.

Lexus only offered the Platinum badging on the 2000 models.

To be honest, now that I think about it cars from the 90's don't bother me so much, but new cars with it just makes the car look dated.

Yup, very dated. And that Black Chrome on Black cars doesn't make much sense either. While on this subject. Another thing that I never liked was that gold or whatever color horizontal stripe along the side of a car. I never quite got that. I don't know why dealers felt that it was necessary to have a stripe running from front to rear on a car.

Wait, so what about gold wheels?

Or I guess more bronze looking wheels?

I associate gold badging with Caddies and Lincolns, both old and new, with the full treatment. Gold package, vinyl roof and whitewalls with the gold outer ring.

Wow, I didn't know so many people hate gold emblems... I had them on my old GS, and have them on my current GS, both cars are champagne, and I think they look totally awesome. I was actually considering putting gold emblems onto my LS, but I just dont have the time to.

a bunch of haters... I actually like certain gold combinations. I have spectra blue and gold and it doesn't look bad and is pretty unique. factory badging only.. nothing overboard. classy. I guess you could say the same about black / gunmetal wheels.. not my cup of tea.. but with certain rim combinations.. I can see the appeal. It doesn't mean gold can't be used tastefully.

Yeah, it was more of a trend thing.
I hardly see it nowadays...dealers never even mention of it.
