I'm not wild about it myself, although, as I mentioned in my last post, I think it DOES look good on some White Pearl cars. And, if not applied well at the factory ( and this is also a problem with some aftermarket gold-trim jobs), the surface gold layer abrades off after a while with car washings and waxings and leaves the silver underneath.

I used to think gold emblemed cars were awesome when I was a kid (early 90s). I wanted a blacked out Celsior with gold emblems and wheels....kinda sad that I still do minus the gold emblems.

Not my preference but they are easily removed and I wouldn't base my buying decision on the emblems. I wanted to take the chrome ones off but the PITA of good paint match paint took that away. Easier to live with them then a two tone paint.

Back in the 1990s, the Forest Green paint with Gold Badges= THE WIN!!!!

Today, yeah, I'll pass for me but I don't think its as bad as the title says. Funny my white/black leather GS 400 came with gold badges and a gold stripe!!

I can think of many worse options on luxury cars today.

Heck, we have Suburu with GOLD WHEELS from the factory!!!

To this date I still think the emblems look pretty good on my blue ES300. Both gold and silver look good in their own ways IMO.

My black '07 Honda was delivered with a nasty blue/white pinstripe and a full compliment of door edge and fender edge guards. I quickly got the car home, and pulled all of that crap off.

On a separate trip back to the same dealer, I discovered that they put that stuff on every car they sell, sans the S2000. What decade are we living in?

I didn't really mean it that way.. I just think the way the OP posted the subject.. it's gonna skew the results. I like gold on certain colors.. I however detest pinstripes.

its not called "platinum" badging its called "Black Pearl" by Lexus even though in reality it is basically a Black Chrome finish.

methinks ur calling it that because most of the "Platinum" series cars made in 2000 (mainly the LS and the GS(maybe)) had it standard.

Sometimes they do that so they can charge a few hundred dollars more. "You won't find this option anywhere else!" kinda thing

the white lx's look good with em well i think they do, and the older mercedes s class and e class had everything that was chrome, f=gold colored, the trim the emblems, the emblems on the wheels and even the muffler tips, it looks really nice on black if its still shiny and clean

I had a Sage Green '97 Maxima SE with gold badging. I thought it looked nice at the time.

Some love it, Some hate it. I fall into the middle. I don't like it on all cars. Some cars look kind of nice with it (see XeroKOOL's ES300) That's nice. I hate it on a sand or silver colored car. That's just me.
