Preview: Audi Q1 crossover
Friday 8 June 2007
It’s well documented that Audi is planning to release a new crossover model positioned below the full-size Q7 SUV based on sister company Volkswagen’s upcoming Tiguan. Several sources are now reporting that Audi could add another soft-roader to its lineup to tackle cars like the three-door Toyota Rav4 or Cross Golf.
Back in February, Germany’s Sueddeutsche reported that there was a small Audi crossover in the works that would be based on the Steppenwolf concept car from 2000. Now, Autobild has created a new rendering of the car, which you can see in full by clicking HERE.
Audi’s management team previously made the announcement that it intends to extend its range of models from the existing 22 to a total of 40 by the year 2015. From 2007 onwards, investments will rise steadily to around €2 billion per year and its advisory board has already agreed to spend €11.8 billion over the next five years in car development, with a massive €8.4 billion from that for brand-new models.
