Toyota & Lexus's transmission suppliers from stupid Aisin Co.! Same company used on many Lexus cars. Supplier is really sucks.
Funny, since Toyota owns Aisin and Aisin also supplies Ford, GM, Mopar, VW/Audi/Porsche and Volvo with trannies. If you want to harp on a tranny company, take that to GM Powertrain(4L-60Es and 4T-60E/80Es drop like flies) or ZF...
I have not heard of any of these issues popping up in Camrys or ES350s built in the last few months.
The latest build ES350 that I know of in our forums here at CL with the trans problem had a build date of 3/07. There is at least one post of a transmission replacement in April of this year that also failed. The problem is definitely not confined to earlier builds (like mine - 5/06).
Only 26% of those posting here on CL have the transmission issue, still a significant number. My car doesn't. Resolution of the problem seems to be hit or miss, depending mostly upon the actions of the local dealerships. The anger over Lexus Corporate trying to whitewash the problem can't be overestimated. Lexus really dropped the customer service ball on this one in the majority of cases. The ES350 forum here often sounds like an ad for BMW and other Lexus competitors as disgusted owners flee the Lexus brand.
This is too bad. I love my ES350 but wouldn't stand to be treated as some of the other ES350 owners have.
the local lexus dealer says that the ES350 and RX330-350 has that problem and that there is no fix for it. the people in the RX forum seem to think that it doesnt exist.

To be fair, the RX forum acknowleges the funky shifting pattern on the RX, but we don't have the transmission flair that the ES and Camry may have. And, at least with the 2004+ RX, it hasn't suffered from transmission failures yet.
