Favorite car commercial ever?
So I was browsing through Youtube and thought, "Hey, what if everyone shared their favorite car commercial ever?" That could be tons of fun.
I'll start... Enjoy!
Fittingly, one of my all-time favorite cars. I present you, the E39 BMW M5:

Wow! That was was pretty friggin' awesome! Thanks for sharing!
My fave car commercial is still the Shell & Partizan one where the Ferrari is rippin' through the streets.

Here's another bad@ss one made by Pirelli Films (if you enjoyed the M5 one, then I'm pretty sure you'll like this one as well) It features Uma Thurman rippin' around the streets in a yellow Gallardo Spyder

+1. When Nissan commercials were good. The 97 Maxima and pigeon commercial was pretty cool too.

One of the first Mustang commercials ran in the Southwest during its introduction in the spring of '64. Sadly no examples of this one still exist, although I worked on it and I had a copy in my portfolio some years ago.
Scene: long shot, a ghost town of the old west . . . silence with a gust of wind and a tumbleweed rolling by - shuffle of feet as an old prospector in tattered overalls leads a tired donkey into the bottom of the frame.
. . . Two-shot prospector and donkey - a rustle and a faint whinny are head - the donkey's ears twitch, the prospector squints up to a faded sign - "Livery Stable" over an old clapboard building. Cut to the door as the whinny is heard again, louder this time - accompanied by a snort and the pawing of horse's hooves.
. . . quick cut of the prospector - looks puzzled as we cut back to the door from a low camera, in time to see it burst open and a new Mustang convertible comes vaulting out of the barn over the camera, with a blare of V8 exhaust, accelerating hard.
. . . a few tight glamor shots of wheels, taillights, grill - and a closeup of the donkey - swinging its head to follow.
. . . closeup on the old prospector is at the wheel - hat flying off, beard streaming out behind him - he's hanging onto the wheel, eyes wide open and screaming with delight as he drives out of the camera frame.
. . . cut back to the street over the donkey's shoulders - silence descends as we see the Mustang and driver disappearing toward the horizon . . . the donkey's ears droop.
Tagline: "Get yours at your Ford dealer . . . "

Some of he best auto commercials ever, IMO, were the VW ones in the 60's and 70's when they sold strictly rear-engine/air-cooled vehicles, and the Honda commercials of the 1980's. Both series showed originality, ingenuity, were a refreshing change from the usual Madison Avenue and mass-marketing junk, and were, IMO, a pleasure to watch and read, with just a touch of dry humor and puns. (I can't post them all, of course, on one thread, but you older guys here on CL, I'm sure, will remember them).
Some VW dealerships today, like the one nearest me, still post blown-up graphics of those old commercials in the showroom and other areas, even though the VW vehicles today, of course, are totally different from those of 40 years ago.
