Well as you know the '03+ were a little better in the suspension dept. than the previous yrs. I bought mine at a Dealer auction, kept it for a little while and flipped it for a decent profit

I believe that C&D went and actually built one of the S55 engines (and yes, they are indeed hand built - and then each is dynoed). Was a cool article.

Mbworld is the only site for mb's....just don't mention the forbidden word "lexus" in there

Never heard of mercedesforum

and here is a pic of the s55 i got invited to test drive.. the date was 1/8/2001

Looks like House of Imports.
Wow, twice??? They must've replaced the same defective parts

Another costly repair is the gauge cluster going out. There's TSB recall on that for the S class, not sure what years it go up to.
I had mine done a couple months ago.

If you don't have the spare maintenance cash, avoid. I still think the S55 is fabulous.

Listen, I can live with the repairs, but now very much concerned about this air suspension.

Replace all struts, pump, etc - can go as high as $6K, especially if there was damage to the wheel wells. Only your dealer or independent shop can evaluate and give you a price including labor.

Interesting move, going from an S to an xB. How was the transition for you?

The S class has a lot of panache, so I can understand why folks would flock to it. The E55 AMG is just to darn good to pass over. Less problematic, Vette performance, tighter platform, just a timeless executive rocket. Renntech has some serious performance parts for it as well. E55 AMG!!

I'm a Toyota guy at heart but I also drive other car just liek JAC, lately i have been driving a modded 996TT... it sucks driving that thing in LA traffic.. seat is uncomfortable.. suspension is ultra stiff and low it is so hard to drive.. inside is so loud i can't hardly talk.. super thirsty..LA to OC back my full tank is gone I can't wait to go home and take the XB out tonight

once your susp. goes bad, can't you buy some nice coilover to replace it for a lot cheap and fix the problemn once for all??
I know it has been done on some air suspension'ed LS400s.
