I don't think it's a big deal, BMW have 318, 323, mercedes have/had 180, 190, 220, 230, 280, 380 etc., Lexus have 430(they could have just call it 450, just like BMW call their 4.8 litre engine cars 550, 750 instead of 548, 748) & 460 . . .

Though there is something about an early 240z in mint condition with the fairlady mirrors. Of course thats still nothing compared to the 2000gt

Except BMW and MB haven't been consistent.

328i used to have a 2.8 litre I6. Now it's a 3.0 litre I6. (Ditto with the 06 325i with the exact same engine).

or the last gen C-Class... C240... it had a 2.6 litre V6 (perhaps they didn't want to confuse it with the C260d in Europe? but we never got the diesel anyway).

oh oh.. my favourite one. The C180 Kompressor has a 1.8 litre supercharged engine in Europe. When it came to Canada, it had the C230 Kompressor badge even though it's the same car. Apparently, we can't have a C180 label cause having an engine the size of a Corolla engine is bad PR. We'll keep the C230 K name and just swap the 2.3 with the 1.8 litre. No one will know
