Default BMW 6 or Audi S5?

Need help on this subject in deciding on one of these two incredible cars. I know it may look like an unfair comparison, but some forums actually say that the S5 shoiuld be compared against a 6 series and not a 335i coupe

My cousin has already driven the 6series and is getting a superb deal from his BMW guy. Sticker is $81K...hes getting it for 72K (2K below invoice from what I was told). However, since this new audi S5 has not yet come out, he absolutely loves the styling, and luxury appeal from this car, from the pictures.

So, can you guys help by providing your insight. I am sold on the S5 coupe. Expected pricing on this coupe loaded should be right at 60K where he wont get any discount when it hits showrooms this fall.

Thanks

You really need to drive the two since I'm betting they're different animals. The 6 is a big coupe, the S5 is a performance version of the A5, which is smaller.

I would get the S5 coupe. While is a lower class, it seems to be superb inside and out. Performance will be on par if not better than the 6. The 6 will have more of the "wow" factor.

Both nice coupes.

S5. Honestly, I don't really think the 6 series is that good of a car. Visually lacks a punch, but it's not great in any other areas.

wow i was thinking more people would opt for the 6series coupe being that it is a "bmw" so the drive should be nothing less than extraordinarily superior to anything in its class. Plus its goign to cost a lot less than a 6 series coupe.

I myself am thirsty to get a feel of this new S5 coupe. The interior looks absolutely stunning especially the sport bolstered seats, cockpit and stack.

Thumbs down

Thing is, the 6 doesn't drive like a traditional BMW and is softer sprung than you would expect.

Is he leasing or buying? If buying, 6 hands down. S5 is first year model from Audi, not the paragon of reliability.

6 looks like a turd, S5 is unbelievably clean and hot. Reliability comparison is the same for both

Suspension mods will take care of that.

The BMW 6 series is my favorite non-exotic car right now. I will own one someday in the not too distant future. However, I am very impressed by the pics of the Audi 5 coupe. The S5 should be and excellent performer. If it were me, I'd go for the 6 because I simply love the bangle styling. That Audi is calling though. Nothing to do but drive them both, compare pricing and features....you'll know which to get.

which model did you drive? I've driven a E63 and E64 645 but they're not THAT soft even for BMW standards.

Also, which 6 series is the OP talking about? E64? E63? M6? 650? 630?

I'm not sure these two compare at all. The S5 is sort of an anomaly. It's going to be less expensive than the 6 series, but more than the 335i (which should match its performance), and it'll be right in between size wise. I think more people will cross shop the 335i, and I think all the comparo's will include those two rather than the 6.

In the case of the OP; I'd say you have to drive them. They are going to be very different.

Audi S5 for me as well. In fact, if I sell my LS next year, I'm thinking about getting either the Audi A5 or G35/37 Sedan. I just love coupes and love the style of the A5/S5. It is the best looking non exotic/super car coupe out today IMHO.
