Future Truck: 2010 Scion xP (the 'P' stands for Pickup)

Maybe trendy, but not useful. Only a 2 seater (I assume, so no bringing friends along), not powerful enough to tow much (maybe a jet ski), bed is going to be small.

Yeah, there are a lot of young buyers that mod the cars like crazy. The ones that are stock are driven by senior citizens and soccer moms that can't afford a minivan or SUV.
As far as the xP is concerned, I don't think it's practical. Unless if it can haul and tow for cheap (which if Toyota makes a modified smaller Tacoma, it can), it won't fly...

"O, you want a pick-up truck? Sure... Here's an xP"
It's not big enough to haul friends so the kids don't get into trouble, and not powerful enough to be stupidly dangerous, and the bed's small enough that fuel efficiency is better than an actual pick-up.
I don't think the xP is targeting the usual pick-up truck audience at all.

I think there is a significant market fir it among teens and twenty-somethings that want a new vehicle that makes sort of a fashion statement. Rather than a second-hand Ranger or Mitsu, this Scion would offer style - if not performance. (how much of that do you get in a new sub-$15K pickup, anyway?) It's a practical daily driver with a touch of fun.

I think it's neither. But Scion has successfully sold a bread box already, and the xA which is/was hideous so no doubt this will sell too to the urban trendy that want something to be different.
Maybe I should buy some more stock.
