Not a new one. The only Ferrari you'd be able to buy for that kind of money would have a couple of years and a few thousand miles on it. MSRP for new Ferrari's may be in $200,000 range, but that doesn't mean that's what they sell for... IF you can get one

I'm sure you can snag an SL65 slightly used, fully Starmarked Benz Warranty for probably half.

cool car, but you pay dearly for it. too much imo.
first off, you're paying more than v8 astons, 430s, gallardos, lf-as, 911 turbos, etc... and then you become subject to a very horiffic loss of resale value over time...

Agreed.

Used (previous models) 65 amgs are dropping like flies-half price
Besides sl, I've seen some cl65 that are sooo tempting.

Would be nice to have if I was a total MBZ fan....I'd rather buy an Aston DB9 or Vette Z06 first before considering the SL65. But that's just my 2 Cents...

On the other hand, if you gave me an SL65 for free, I would not be complaining

You can get just about any Porsche for that price.

I don't need 730lb of torque...I'd much rather have a V8 Vantage and a used E39 540i.

my girlfriend'd kill me though if I say that b/c its her favorite car [shakes head]

resale on cl65 is even worst than sl... you can find them used on ebay for less than half of orginal MSRP like this one..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-...QQcmdZViewItem

don't know if it is ture but last year i heard rumor that you can pick those cl65 up at dealer for like 110k new...

Yeah, from our perspective...but for the mega-rich people who are in the market for such cars, that's basically what it is. The filthy rich order the SLR, wait a year, get it, and then drive it about 100 miles/year...basically buying it as an investment and a show peice, to one up their other filthy rich cohorts.

Of course these filthy rich people chuckle at the mere mega-rich, who can only afford $200,000 SL65s.

It's all a matter of perspective.

And too many of you in this thread are comparing this to other cars as if the people in the market for this $200,000 SL65 have to make a CHOICE between a Aston Martin and a SL65. They have BOTH. LOL Most of the mega-rich have 3-5 cars, and STILL get chaffeured half the time. It's not either/or, it's multiple high-end pleasures they own.

So they have their 911 Turbo or Aston (as a daily driver), their SL65 (as a practical sedan when they just HAVE to carry 4 in comfort), AND also their Lamborghini for their weekend fun.

When you're buying $200,000 (most of the time in CASH), it's a whole different ballgame.

The decision-making process when you have that kinda dough, it's a little different than ours.

That's not the point, at least for me . Why get the SL65 & pay $60k+ more, when a SL55 is just very marginally slower & a more well balanced car that feels more agile. Sure you can have 3 or 4 other cars too, but the SL55 (or even the SL600) is a better, more sensible buy. Even some of the filthy rich spend their money wisely ...

Here's one of my friends running a SL65 with is Supra on pump gas, they were at a gas station he asked the guy to run and guy looked at him like he was crazy he finally give in. When it was over he was like wow he didn't know a Toyota can be that fast. The driver was really cool he exchanged numbers with my friend and they plan to run again.
