being a car guy, like all of us are on these forums, personally I'd rather have the supra with the single turbo that walked the SL65. Having driven a few supras with single turbos those things are incredible machines, but that's a whole nother discussion. Would you guys rather spend the 180k on 3 real bad rides like a new z06, supra, viper, put some mods on all of them and call it a day? With a few mods, all 3 of those cars would walk that benz... I know this isn't the discussion at hand, but still just what I think about buyin a 180k 2 door benz, not worth it IMHO...

No matter how much money you spend on a Supra, it just isn't an AMG SL. There's more to cars than speed. Those who spend $180k on a SL65 could go out and buy a Supra at the same time without even thinking twice about it.

Everyone knows that but that guy that my friend beat didn't expect to get beat by a "Toyota". He probably figured a Lambo or Ferrari would get him instead. It's all personal choice but I know if I had a 180K car and got pulled on by a car less than a quarter of the price of mine I would feel someway about that just like that guy did that night.

I guess. I would feel the opposite. Big deal, he still has a Supra. Good for him though, nice mods. Really, you can make a lot of cars go fast with mods, who cares really.

But a slow POS...I'm just wondering as compare to what other car in this class, out of the box, without any further mods?

As the worth, it's a matter of how much each person is willing to pay.
For over 100k new, I'm not willing to pay that.

Can't really compare a modded Supra and a AMG... 2 difffent kind of car.. AMG is fast, smooth power delivery, quite and COMFORTABLE. You get into a AMG press the start button shift and just drive. Modded Supra are uncomfortable, loud inside and ride like an @ss just like modded 911.. You can use a AMG as daily anytime of the day with your nice look Armani suit and leather shoes or your nice outfit to go play golf .. But in a Supra..?

I don't remember a single-turbo supra, unless it was an aftermarket bolt-on unit. Factory Supras all had the twin-turbo 3.0 L straight 6.

so how did the supra get into this equation? there are a lot of things an apu supra can destroy, and not many things can surpass it.
