what you didn't know the 65 series starts at 180k? that's some freaking umbers i am telling you. in fact i think it's so expensive it doesn't make much sense to me. for a bit more you can get a ferrari already. the 65 series just sound too expensive to me.

but it sounds awesome though. there was one in my previous apartment. when he starts the car, man, that rumbling...

and the other day i saw TWO s65 side by side rolling together. that's pretty sick too

I'm not sure about the SL65, but the SL55 starts around $120k and you need to pay extra for xenon headlights.

SL55 is the only MB I'd ever buy though. SL65 is overkill for me.

No such thing as overkill. I'd get one in a heartbeat

I knew that it was that much, and you're definately paying for the torque. With all the electronic nannies and traction control, acceleration from a stop is not optimal."

It's a shame that a 600+ hp car can "only" do a little under 4.0 seconds to reach 60 mph...

Wow, I didn't know that either. Doesn't the Gallardo(sp?) start at $180k? Also, i'm sure you can get a nice porsche for that price too.

Fellas, it's about stealth and understated elegance/luxury. It's not about being flashy (or at least, as muted as being in any Mercedes can be).

I don't think anyone will pay MSRP for any AMG mercedes.. except for the black series... for these high price MB most people either lease them or get them at big discount.. when the sl550 came out dealer discount the leftover sl500 like crazy.. last week I stop by my local MB dealer to use their restroom.. they have a brand new blk E63 in their showroom 93k MSRP red tag special 999 a month with 10k drive off 32mos lease... I talk to my salesman without much negotiating he can work me out a deal on the drive off to $X000... pretty much just ignore the sticker price....
