all-mechanical, pre-Bangle, and as completely German as the historic Augustiner Biergarten in Munich.
I could have sworn that the E46 was one of the first Bangled Bimmers....

I think the first "Bangle Bimmer" was the 745. I'm not sure though... Maybe that's the one with the most drastic design change. The E46 was pretty much inline with the design cues of the rest of the BMW line.

Like I said though... I'm not sure.

if i remember right, the 745 was the first full design by bangle. he took the later part of the e46 design, so technically he was part of e46, but not all

Its not. When Bangle got involved he touched it up, with the odd shaped headlights and cleaning up the sides a bit.

Pre Bangle

Bangle

The E46 M3 didn't get TOUCHED by Bangle (thank goodness). The car for all intents and purposes looks PERFECT.

I love the E46 M3, a sad time. The new car will surely outperform it but not out look it.

The 745I/IL was the first for Bangle. I'm really going to miss the E46 M3, I don't know if you guys remember back in 2001 when the E46 first came out they offered it in Laguna Seca Blue which is by far the nicest and most rare color they offered for the E46.

Is this the Smurf blue color?

I, too loved the e46 styling particularly the coupe, but fortunately I never succombed to my urges and got the ///M3 over the LS. Way too many issues with the 3.3L and output was....lacking.

I'd take Phoenix Yellow w/red interior over Laguna Seca blue. But then again I'd take Alpine White w/red any day over either. I love the E46 and cant wait to find a clean low milage one in the next year or so.

In this case, I actually like the Bangle touch ups better than the pre Bangle. That touch ups came out on the sedan in 02, but on the coupe in 04.

Awesome car. Will continue to have enthusiasts for a loooooong time.

Look at the interior on this one. How could BMW have made the newer interior so hideous?

The E46 M3 had a good run. We'll have to wait and see how the new V8 M3 will do.
