I also saw the IS-F....what a sick sick ride.
I also scoped the new LX570 too...

Lexus sent me last Tuesday...This year, it wasn't as exciting. It was very informative though. Hitting that foam dummy with the LS600hL was cool too. That APCS works well.

It was nice getting there early and we pulled into the lot by 8:30. Henry and Mimi were moments behind us. We got the first drives of the LS600LH and it was a breeze to do the revolving door drive. Though each time I looked at the schedule board, Henry's name was on there...he must really like that car.

The lines for car drives grew so we were happy to have it done early. Our total time there was less than an hour thirty. Drive, and get back on the road. Oh...the LS600 is a sweet car. Overall, I had a the most fun in the IS350 and GS350.

LS600 snap

Overall, we had a nice time though I thought the food was a bit less then last year. We're not there to eat so it's not a big deal. The menu selections:

the taste of lexus this year was absolutely brilliant i have to say, i give lexus a very very high score!!!!!!!

me and my wife arrived around 8:30, and darn, of course mike was there already (i hate him, hehehe). we signed in together and then we were on our own to the drives.

the 600hl is nice, the led headlights are sick, the car is super quiet (much much quieter than the ls460l) and has more power. however, now i understand, and i have to agree, the car feels weird. with the cvt, the weight, and whatever reason, the car feels weird when accelerating, cornering, etc... moreover the brakes i think they are a bit worse than the ls460l for some reason. overall, to be honest, i am not THAT impressed with the car, especially when i know it's like 25k more for similarly loaded one.

by comparison, i would say when i first drove the gs450h, i had a much much bigger "wow" over the gs350 and the gs430. i couldn't get any confirmation, but i believe that the 600hl didn't have the ****, which is probably why the handling was as impressive.

moreover, my wife noticed that the 600hl has a bit better steering response. i wonder if the system is different, something like the vgs?

in any case, we drove the ls600hl, ls460l, gs350, gs450h, and is350. the gs450h and the is350 definitely was awesome on the track.

now honestly i couldn't have much cons about the event, but here are the pros (especially over the past years)

1) the smart access system is purely brilliant. you use the card to sign up your drive, no more unnecessary long line waiting outside, more time inside, very cool, order was excellent and instructions/displays were super clear (HUGE thumbup)

2) the same access card is also used to get your meals (breakfast or lunch). another brilliant idea. no more crazy people standing in line 5 times, food were excellent and no more bite size dibs.

3) FINALLY the drives are more performance oriented. the greeters told us to use pedal shift / sport shift if we want, go ahead and punch it, etc.... i was very impressed. the track are still on the short side but i don't expect that to be too long anyway. the track design was very good for the intended purpose imho (hybrid drive, luxury drive, performance drive)

4) like mentioned before you, get a tire guage from dunlop but nothing from lexus. in the beginning, the rep explained that this year lexus is putting the money into donation so that's why no gifts. i am totally for that!!!!!!

5) the side shows are cool. golf, kids area, and also the cinema. the whole venue design is like a little walk with shops on the sides. very very classy and luxury feel. nothing like the previous events

imho lexus totally stepped up big time this year with the event, taking it to another stage of luxury. people are allowed to fully enjoy it with the family.

excellent job! (they got super good comments from me in the survey)

Think I was standing behind you at the IS350's line waiting to test drive video taping your friends.

Were you the guys that said the whole automated card thing sucked when the lexus official asked you about waiting in lines?

lol... Yeah that was us... We were just upset that we had to kill an hour before being able to drive any vehicles... In hindsight, it DID make the lines more manageable, so it was alright. Sucked that there were no competitor vehicles this year though.

415 HP is what the lady product specialist was telling people today about the IS-F. This is the same Ultrasonic Blue IS-F I spent time with in Detroit, Torrance, Long Beach and etc. The car is getting pretty beat up, especially the driver's seat cushion. I'll be uploading my pics shortly.

Majority of the staff working there are employees or business partners of AMCI...not Lexus so I will confirm the numbers with my sources soon.

i went to the event today with some friends and my gf. a real quick note if your navigation in your lexus is the previous gen the map will not find the right location. i should have map quested it, spent 45 minutes drivin around looking for it while seeing irvine police crusing around. since we got there so late we didnt drive too many cars. i did drive the ls600HL and i can tell the difference in the acceleration compared to the LS460L but the car felt strangely unbalanced and the car wouldnt let me slide it out. and the car also feels very nose heavy compared to the ls460L which my friend managed to get a semi slide going. i looked inside the IS-F and the driver seat cushion looked like someone has spent major time driving it around kinda wrinkly on the sides. the best part of the event was that we really drove the cars hard and they were cool about it. Unlike last year when the chewed me out for driving like a maniac in the gs450H. i just wished i went earlier.

I got my video's and pics uploaded to my FTP server. They are still in their original and unedited formats so they're rather large (the video's) I'll be resizing them and posting them up on photobucket tomorrow, but here's an ftp link if you don't mind a large download.

Oops, I guess a link would help... Sorry, getting late!
