The M5 must be a god-awful monster.......
I was standing on a lot today merely 5 minutes away from signing the papers on a 545i black/black 6 speed, loaded. (I decided to walk away and see if I still felt the same tomorrow morning..... so far I am still remembering shifting through 6 speeds with my head against the back of the seat ).
Thank god I knew the owner of the lot or I would have never gotten a chance to do the things I did in that car today. I was thinking that if the 545i is that peppy, the M5 must be a freaking monster.
I stuck that 545i in corners that I would have only previously taken in my Porsche 951 Turbo at those speeds. Power was very flat line and smooth, and plenty of it! Comfortable..... oh yes. I love the ergonomics.
Funny thing is I looked at one with a tan interior last month and didn't really "love" it. It definitely has to be the black on black to get my graces. My buddy owns a car lot so I was looking at a slightly used vehicle with 20% tinted windows already installed. Once it was all blacked out like that, I was sold instantly.
If anyone has ever walked away from a 545i with a tan interior, check out a black on black one. Looks 10X better. Totally different beast.
Now the hard part begins............ do I really want to get back into a car payment with all my cars paid for at the moment? ..........uhg. I really like this car.

If you get the 545 make sure you get a warranty. I had mine when they 1st came out after a year my back windows quit working (fixed under warranty ) then one day I was coming home at a stop light and the car just cut off scared the s*** out of me. That 545 was a beast though the 550 is also a beast.

it has the same engine as in the 335i
it is a light weight engine but damn powerful with the twin turbos
i would seriously look into it
300hp for a 6 banger is
the 550i only produces 60 more hp but is a lot heavier

The I6 of the same year is not a 535 though, it's a 530... The addition of two turbo's makes a big difference On a side note, I went with my cousin to look at some 5 series. We drove the 550 and 535. The 535 was quicker off the line, but the 550 felt faster at higher speeds.
