Veyron vs. MB SLR (video)
We know the outcome without even watching the video. Knowing how fast an SLR is, the distance between the two is still very incredible.

To put the figures into perspective "the last really fast car I drove was Ferrari’s 599 GTB Fiorano. Hardly a slouch, the 599 reaches 62mph in 3.7 seconds and 124mph in 11 seconds. But drive the Ferrari 599 past a stationary Veyron at 62mph during its 11 second 124mph sprint and the Bugatti will catch up by the time the Italian reaches 124mph."
And:
"On the way to that headline 253mph top speed it’ll reach 62mph in just 2.5 seconds, 124mph in 7.3 seconds and 186mph in 16.7 seconds."

Not only the Bugatti has over 1000 HP but the torque..... it has more torque than any other supercars out today. IIRC the Veyron produces 927 ft-lb torque. That's higher than any other production supercars out now in history.
The only closest contender would be the Koenigsegg CCX-R which has already been released. The CCX-R has twin superchargers and powered by E85 biofuel, producing 1018 HP and the car only weighs 2601 lbs. I'm afraid this will beat the Veyron. The top speed is around 3~ 4 mph slower than the Veyron but the acceleration... errmmmm....... the CCX-R will have the advantage. The physics don't lie. 2601 lbs guys......
I would love to see Veyron and CCX-R side by side and do a couple of runs like that. Ho Ho yeah meow meow.. that's gonna be fun.

At 240mph it the air it takes in 1 minute is enough to last a person 4 days.
The tires last 50 min at top speed
Gas lasts 12 minutes
At 252mph, its covering a football field every second.
I used to not get this car but its a feat of engineering!!!

I believe a better competition would be the SSC Ultimate Aero
I heard the last attempt to top the Veyron failed, but they had some bugs to work out.
But still - a 1000HP car that gets 28mpg on the freeway!!!!!!
The Aero's styling includes the use of scissor doors similar to the ones found in Lamborghini cars. It uses carbon fiber and titanium extensively throughout the car, keeping the weight down to 1233 kg (for the standard Aero). For the Ultimate Aero, weight is further reduced 1179 kg by marketing the navigation system, 10-speaker audio/CD/DVD system, video/DVD screen, and back-up camera as optional equipment; and removing air-conditioning and any trunk space altogether.
The engine in the base Aero model is a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine rated at 787 bhp @ 6600 rpm and 998 Nm (736 ft·lbf) torque @ 5800 rpm, while the Ultimate Aero has increased engine displacement and increased supercharger boost, resulting in an astounding 1046 bhp @ 6950 rpm and 1113 Nm (821 ft·lbf) torque @ 6200 rpm (Running on 104 octane gasoline.)
Wind-tunnel testing indicates that the Ultimate Aero could possibly reach a top speed of 437 km/h (273mph) given appropriate transmission gear ratios. The base Aero, however, should only reach around 386 km/h (240 mph).
Despite its astounding performance, the Aero's fuel mileage is rated at an excellent (at least for a supercar) 18 mpg city and 27 mpg highway.
