As usual with every automotive review..."Not quite a 3 series, but not bad either."

That said, there are so many wonderful choices on the market now, and especially in this segment!

4032 pounds, no thanks to the nearly 100-pound penalty of the optional sunroof. That’s 252 more than the outgoing model and just 68 shy of the five-inch-longer STS.
Good lawd!!

Can't imagine how much a CTSv with a big V8 and AWD would weigh.

I don't think GM is able to build a quiet car that doesn't weigh less 4000lbs

Lucerne, DTS, Enclave, STS and now CTS. Seriously overweight cars.

I always felt the CTS and G35 were like brothers in law. Both came out around the same time, both were RWD and fun, both had **** poor interiors, both had stacked headlights and one was a jellybean, the other a chiseled fridge both did a great job bringing new people to their brands.

Kudos to Caddy as well.

The sheet metal could look similar to continue the line. In addition, most Caddys look pretty similar anyway so... It's what's under the hood and new technology that actually matters.

GM doesn't get it.
17mpg city
4000 lbs
.33 drag??

Its like driving a brick wall. That is unacceptable, that is not engineering at all. I can't believe this. Seems they basically turned the Escalade into a car.

Chiseled fridge, too funny. LOL

But hey, my mother-in-law drives a chiseled fridge. Whenever I drive it, I'm very surprised by how smooth, quiet and POWERFUL it is. 1st gen interior as you say is fugly, but that's all about to change.

But it has a limited slip diff and 6-speed stick options.

Also those are 2008 EPA numbers (i.e., more realistic) - going to be interesting to compare those to revised numbers for other vehicles.

Another thing to remember about the weight is this car is that while it may be the entry Caddy, it's BIGGER in every dimension than the Lexus GS.

GS:
Length: 190
Width: 71.7
Height: 56.1
Wheelbase: 112.2
Curb Weight: 3,748

CTS:
Length: 191.6
Width: 72.5
Height: 58
Wheelbase: 113.4
Curb Weight: 4032lbs

Nice looking. Personally, not sure about the side vents yet. IMO, some of the new Caddy's are a little overdone on the rear led's. Maybe the new CTS is toned down a little. 4,000 lbs! Even the ES350 which makes no pretense about being a sports sedan, and has a lot of weight adding ammenities, weighs 500 lbs less.

The ES being FWD helps keep the weight down some.
The GS is 250lbs lighter than the CTS, but it's smaller in every way, so the 4K lbs is not really surprising.

I prefer the older model to this. IMO this one is not near as appealing.
