Edmunds Hybrid Comparo: Camry, Altima, Aura

I suppose this is another of GM's marketing dept ideas that the public at large are idiots and would just go for the HYBRID badge without conducting any research. Those Auro number are horrible even if was sold for $12k. Surprised the Maxima was never given the Hybrid go head as isn't that car the direct competitor to the Camry and not a Altima.

^^ Absolutely 100% correct. Isn't this common knowledge already?
Let me extend this list even further to clear up any confusion:
Sentra - Corolla - Civic (same class)
Altima - Camry - Accord (same class)
Maxima - Avalon - Acura TL () (same class)

At least Nissan gave a good effort. It shouldn't be a surprise that the Altima handles better than the Camry. In fact, I already saw one up here (in Canada). It's a good alternative to those who like the Camry but think it feels a bit "soft". Also good for those that are loyal to the Nissan brand.
The Aura Hybrid is a pathetic attempt. Honestly, I was expect more from GM (esp. after the Silverado failure). There's only hope that their Two-Mode full hybrid system is a better competitor to Toyota's HSD.
Edit: Did anyone notice that the Camry Hybrid has a front strut tower brace?? I thought only the SE has it.

Toyota proved it's got the fuel economy game wrapped up, as the Camry produced the best combined mileage of our test group with 43.2 mpg over both loops — 44.5 mpg in the city and 42.6 mpg on the highway. The Altima's fuel economy in the city actually proved marginally better than the Camry's at 47.3 mpg, but its 38.1 mpg on the highway dropped its combined rating to 40.1 mpg.

Am I missing something? How did you come up with the "corrected" version? If you think your version is "correct", contact Edmunds for correction.
Edmunds' comparison tests were done in a controlled environment so the results are bound to differ greatly from what the lead-footed editors get from their uncontrolled driving.

German + electric motor = your funeral
Toyota has R&D going on diesel hybrids; I dont think they'd be as awesome as some people think either. Diesels engines make power right where the electric motor makes its power; in the lower part of the powerband. Gas engines make power further down and compliment the power output characteristics of an electric motor much better.
The Li-Ion prius prototype has hit over 100mpg in UK... in US miles thats like 90 something... so this might get really interesting soon.
