This is a lawyer who is known to cause trouble for other car makers, and in fact this is not a defect. Customers are unhappy about the fact that the airbag does not come on when someone under 100lbs sits in the passenger seat. Regardless of age, anyone under this weight probably belongs in the rear of the car for their OWN safety in a collision.
Lexus is right here, though it is understandable that a customer may not be happy when a petite passenger is in the seat and the airbag is not on.

When the automobile’s corporate offices have been advised of this problem by concerned owners, company spokespersons have stated that there is a problem, but they do not know how to fix it.
