The TRUE reason....once you cut through all the B.S.? What else?.....Money. It is easier and cheaper to make a dash like this for both left and right-hand drive models for different markets.
not really. If you look closely, some of them have off-centre dashes so it's not like they're saving money with symmetrical dashes.

Also, there is truth in that. The distance is shorter and because it's further away, your eyes re-focus quicker. Now of course there are better options than a centrally mounted set of gauges. I've grown accustomed to my Prius' gauges which are reflected and appear to be "under" the front wipers. It's more or less in front of me which should please you and other folks like you who hate the centre gauges but still have the advantages of having a quicker re-focus time. (most of the time it's visible in your peripheral)

Ok the red Pic is nothing like the Corolla I've seen, the grill is much much bigger, Camry sized, and there are fog lights. The bottom mesh is all straight across while the grill is Xed out like the Camry. I don't know if the version I saw was a sport or not but there are black rubbery or plastic spoilers on the front lip, not straight across, like the current S Corolla.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like our Corolla won't look exactly like the Euro Corolla or Auris.

Disappointed that the 2.0L Valvematic will not be available, at least not initially. The 1.8L is tried and true, but the 2.4L is nothing to write home about, a very average motor in every respect...I'm not a fan of it.

The 2.4L is supposed to be replaced/updated in a few years.

It's not the same engine even though it displaces the same volume.

The current 1.8 litre is the 1ZZ-FE engine. The new 1.8 litre is the 2ZR-FE engine. It has dual VVT-i (dunno if it'll have direct injection) and it uses less fuel than the ZZ series engine. The 1ZR-FE is a 1.6 litre engine that'll be used in the Corolla overseas.
