btw there's a 3-rotor RE engine Delorean on the internet somewhere. Sweet

Renault engines are actually not that bad.....a number of them share a design with Volvo. Though I have not seen many Renaults since they left the American market, from what I remember, it was mostly the hardware and paint on them that was junk, not necessarily the powertrains.

but will get a refreshed interior and more powerful engines.
That shouldn't be hard to do.
The interiors were awful, and the powertrain was even worse!

For the record, I never liked these cars.

the engines for the car were made by the (then) PRV group (peugot-renault-volvo) and was a sickly 170hp 2.8L motor. once the US emissions was done raping the hell out of it it BARELY made 130.

thats why US cars were timed 0-60 at 10+seconds and the euro cars (however few that there were) were all sub 9 seconds.

I guess this was the original concept for the future Delorean. It will obviously turn out a lot different.

Too much greenhouse. That will be indeed a hot car and I mean that literally, on a hot day.

Those windows in that concept remind me (unfortunately) of the frightful Subaru SVX. Fortunately though it looks just like a (bad) photoshop. (tires have no sidewall)

Correct, but that was a long time ago.....back in an age before electronic engine controls, when engineers had a much harder time dealing with emission requirements, especially with carburators. Some of those engines would barely run at all when cold.
Today, most of that is long-gone.....engines, like most auto components, not only run by computers, but, for the most part, are also designed by them as well. And the PRV group, like other engine manufacturers, has not just stood still in a vaccum, either.

Corvettes of that era weren't making much more power - such was the state-of-the-art in emissions controls and fuel economy standards. Those were black days for auto enthusiasts.
