The XF rejects Jaguar didn't choose

Posted Aug 30th 2007

When the Jaguar C-XF concept appeared just before the Detroit Auto Show most observers breathed a big sigh of relief. After the disappointments of the X-Type and S-Type Jaguar fans were looking for signs of fresh life from Coventry. For a company that has been tied to styling tradition for so long, coming up with a new direction was definitely a challenge. Along the way to the XF, there were numerous proposals ranging from the warmed -ver S-Type pictured above to variations on what was ultimately approved. Check out the gallery to see what the XF was spared from being.

All the concepts are all.... very GS-ish. From a profile stand point. The first picture looks like a Kia.

All of the real models (not the sketches) are too conservative in my opinion. The physical models looked like Honda Accords and the Chrysler 300.

I think the final XF was a good blend of a conservative body with distinctive flash here-and-there.

What you saw was most probably the XK.

This car is all wrong and does not follow Jaguar tradition. Bring back the classic lines on the 82 XJ6. Ford I tell you

They did, and no one bought them.

The point of this car is to not look to the past.

Hmmm...looks like they took quite a bit of styling cues from the Continental GT.

I still don't get used to how it looks to the front, the headlights are too large.

I have to say that I don't remember exactly what the artist's usually misconceptions were like but the reality is I am not very impressed with either the XF or the various concepts. Jag better get used to product reviews in Bangalore.

i agree, same with mercedes, bring back the lines off the older s classes, but unfortunetly people dont like those design of cars anymore , to bad because by the time i can drive, it will be near impossible to buy a car in good condition of that kind of styling

I'm glad they didnt pick any of those. I think they did a wonderful job with the XF.
