From my experience, there's only a handful of times a year where I need a vehicle to get past inclement weather and usually any car can be solved with good snow tires. Unless you really need the higher ride height because of rougher terrain an SUV is never a solution to snow/rain. Good driving skills are also key in tough weather. The only time I could see a good purpose of a SUV is for hauling lots of people/cargo. Most SUVs don't tote a good towing power.
The X6 is clearly for prestige. Not there's anything wrong with luxury and spending your money but it's definitely not a car for me. I don't really know if it's going to be a volume seller as there's not much of a market for it in my opinion.

Thgat thing is hideous, why is BMW piling into every single car category? CUV's are disgusting to me, no matter what brand.

Don't kid yourself. This car will never be all season M5. 5000+lbs and higher CG in really hideous skin?

I like it! Depending on the trunk space, although the trunk looks pretty tall to be versital if it's a hatch back and have big opening I might just get this one over the R class. Hopefully they will keep the price down on the v-6 version too.

I'm not feeling it. The front works and the flow up to the b pillar is fine...from that point on...

What is BMW thinking? Why don't they just make a conventional suv like every other company? What is this thing doing on the Nurburgring? Why put a V10 in this thing? Why

LOL..

I don't understand it, what is it and why? Is it suppose to appeal to young soccer moms/ young execs who like to go very fast over rocks and bumps but still want that car sort of feel?

it looks pretty real ugly to me.

From what I heard (X5 world, poster Scott27, and he is 99% right about all the future BMW), this is the real deal and the production version will only differ in side mirror (from E70 X5) and obviously not so flush B and C pillars.

Cool. I would love to see those engines in the X5 though. This thing is absolutely hideous.
