Arrow Jaguar’s Future: New XK in 2013, X-Type to get killed off

No matter who buys Jaguar from Ford by the end of this month, the XF sedan will hit the dealerships next spring in April. The Jaguar XF replaces the S-Type as a direct rival to the BMW 5-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class we expect pricing to be competitive for that segment. While the current pricing is estimated to be around $56,000 to $65,000, official U.S. pricing will be revealed at the LA Auto Show in November.

Whoever buys Jaguar probably won’t put a lot of money right away into the slow selling XJ sedan and the XK Coupe. Basically, the XF needs to be a hit for Jaguar.

Click through to see Jagaur’s future lineup.

X-Type: The Jaguar X-Type will be killed off by 2010. Instead Jaguar will debut a people moved built on the Land Rover LR2 platform. Of course that doesn’t mean we’re going to see a Jaguar SUV, but a long wheelbase platform that will share platforms with the LR2 and the Volvo S80.

XF: The Jaguar XF will hit U.S. roads in spring of 2008. In the U.S. the Jaguar XF will only come in a base 4.2 liter V8 engine will produce 300 horsepower and a 4.2 liter Supercharged V8 engine that will produce 420 horsepower. Jaguar will offer three trim levels including Luxury, Premium Luxury and Supercharged.

XJ: Jaguar’s XJ already looks outdated but Jaguar can’t afford to offer a redesign within the next couple of years without keeping a lot of its underpinnings. Expect to see the XJ sedan to hang out in the Jaguar lineup for another seven-year product cycle. If Jaguar finds an aggressive new buyer, a re-engineered aluminum platform and body construction is expected in 2010. We might even see a restyled XJ with modern looks.

XK: The new coupe just arrived last summer. No redesign is expected until 2013.

The XF looks promising. and yes, the XJ's facelift made it more dated than the original design in 2004.
