glad I'm not the only one. I'm leaning towards another newer GS but then again, the performance of the IS350 did intrigue me... but then it makes me think if I am going to put down that much money, might as well get that B5 S4 I always wanted.
Lexus just seems to be the rational choice to make, not the emotional choice.
Hey, Bruce! Nick here from Long Island! I would like you to help design and put into production a 4th gen GS 5.0 litre 400HP twin turbo mated with a 6mt for under $30K...
+1. If you're reading this, than PLEASE give us an official explanation of why the GS460 has only 342HP.
there isnt much to explain, the flagship sedan needs to be stronger than the rest. Just because the last GS400 was higher than the LS400 isnt a good enough reason nor a convincing argument that it should be. Who knows if the engine was actually derated, it couldve been derated "on paper" and it could still be the 380 hp engine, just on paper it says its 342
If the mags. can get results like 0-60 at 5.0 sec. or less, & mid-to-high 13 sec. 1/4-mile consistently, then maybe people can forget about the 342hp rating, otherwise . . .

GS460 complaining is getting old
It sure is getting old.
Personally, I don't agree with following the Germans into super horsepower wars. They sell cars making 400-600hp that you'll never use and they can't get the reliability issues resolved....AND PEOPLE ARE BUYING THE CARS!!
I don't get it. 250-350 is enough power, more is overkill...unless you use it.

But it IS stronger. If you're looking for Lexus flagship sedan numbers the LS Hybrid is 438HP so someone looking for the absolute 'top of line' can get it and have bragging rights.
The GS460 HP rating is a big disappointment to me. I was considering it as my next car and unless someone dynos and finds it's significantly underrated or the magazines cut mid/high 4 second 0-60 runs with the car, it's totally off my list. I'll still try and drive one with an open mind, but purely on the initial press I'm PO'd.
I do hope that someone from Lexus gets the message, but don't think it will be in time to do anything about it for the 3GS.
ps for those tired of hearing complaining about it... this is my first, last and only post on this subject .
This is accurate, Toyota/Lexus execs do see what we have to say here at CL. Trust me, they do listen.
There's a difference between "hearing" (in one ear out the other) and listening
I didn't put my disappointment in the other threads since I didn't want to add to the congestion, so I'll do it here
I guess I'm going to keep my 2GS for a verrrry long time.
Another important issue is that Lexus Corporate needs to work closely with dealers rather than "Oh, it's individually owned, nothing we can do about it"
