Total shock, I was expecting it to look much worse.

The exterior is VERY nice, and IMHO I think this is hands-down the best-looking midsize sedan in it's class (exterior wise). There are certainly some Toyota and Nissan styling cues used, but what makes the exterior great is how cohesive and balanced all the styling elements look together.

If only the interior wasn't so drab and plain looking . The interior really does nothing for me. If only it was possible to have the new Accord's interior combined with the new Mazda 6 exterior, that would be a dazzling mid-size sedan IMHO .

Yep, that was my first thought too, the rear looks like Sebring.

with mazda? probably not; we'll have to wait to see a Mazdaspeed6 version, like the previous incarnations of the Mazda6 and Mazda3. And it'll be ballsy, but overpriced.

very nice... I dont mind the interior better than lots of others.. but the rear end could be a little better looking.. overall I give it an 8 out of 10. I'm surprised the article said it was smaller and lighter than the outgoing 6?! The current Mazda 6 is already smaller than all the other midsized cars out there how can this one be even smaller? That would make it a mazda 3 almost. Anyway can't wait to hear how it handle and performs.

Read again closely, its lighter but larger interior wise:

Officials have revealed that one of the key goals in designing the new Mazda6 was to keep weight low. Not surprisingly, the car weighs less than the outgoing version but also offers more interior space and performance.

Finally, an automaker that is bold enough to not supersize the american family sedan. The exterior design is stunning and i think it will look fresh for quite some time and the tail light treatment is unique. I just wish they put a little more time into the interior; who knows maybe it'll look better in black... those door pannels look like a ten year old design. kudos mazda.

ok cool.. still pretty amazing considering most newer models almost always come in heavier than their predecessors. So this car is bigger but lighter! Awesome job Mazda!

Wow?!?!?!?! Mazda really wants to be heard. The interior is cleaned up and look at the front fenders it kind of reminds me of the S-Class front fenders.

Think RX-8 fenders. They're going for a design language that says Mazda, it fits right in with the RX-8 and 3.

I really don't like that steering wheel. The Civic one is similar and quite ugly.

WOw Mazda really did a great job on both models (sedan and Wagon)... I hope those are actual shots and not the prototype..
The side shot looks like a cross between a TL and Camry.. I have to give to Mazda for developing a great looking car.. My GF has a 06 Mazda3 hatch and my only complaint is the road noise from the stock tires,, Very loud IMO but overall a great car..

From the spy shots I did not expect it to look this good. Nice job all around Mazda!

What a fantastic looking car. Looks like a concept car. A lot of people are not going to believe their eyes when they see this one coming down the road.

With this style (it's pretty impossible to even compare the style of the 6 to Camry and Accord) and what should be a fantastic chassis and driving experience, Mazda is really making it harder to say no to the 6.
