Sorry but a coupe with 265hp this day an age for 40k from a luxury car company is not cool. The S5 is nice at 50k, that to me is more of a good deal than the A5.

Are we really going there?

I'd really like to drive an A5 and compare it with the 335i (which I've driven). IMO the pricing for the A5 is right on par with the 335i. I hate how Audi makes you buy everything in massive, expensive packages. If you want option X, you have to get package A, which itself requires package B. So in order to get option X, you're paying for that plus two other packages, and that's like $5k.

By the way, the 335i comes with adaptive xenons and Logic7 standard. If I want xenons on the A5, I'd have to buy the entire Convenience package, which is pricey.

The 335i is hard to beat though. The 3 complaints I have against it are: it's too boring in normal driving, It's lost some of the "small car" feel of the E46. Two, the rear end looks wrong. Three, the interior is too boring. But the gearbox and motor........man those are amazing!

Why not, since you brought up the 335i from no where.

All I am saying is, you just can't touch 335i when it comes to performance, value and sheer driving pleasure. Even the new upcoming M3 will have hard time convincing the buyers against the 335i.

Thats base price. As some have mentioned with options the difference is not as significant. And seriously, in real life, how many base models of either car do you REALLY expect to see? Ive been to the BMW dealer in my area and I can tell you for fact, I saw not one base model 335i. Every single car had some options and I surmise the same will hold true for the S5.

First of all, "modded car vs. stock car" isn't really a valid argument any way that you want to cut it. Maybe I'll just buy an A5 with the S-line package and throw after market twin turbos on it with an exhaust and a chip. That should spank the 335i good. Or maybe an IS 300 with a TT setup, or a Swift Racing GS 400...they could both give the bimmer a run for it's money.

See what I mean? You could go in any direction with mods and prices.

Comparing the stock 335i to the stock S5...there is probably about a $5K price discrepancy in favor of the BMW. To some people that might be a significant margin, and to some people it may not be. For me, the S5 is worth the extra cash considering that it's better looking (I feel like the 335i is almost bland in comparison), has more power, and a better interior.

S5 looks better, I agree.
1500$ chip is barely a mod for N53. It's almost like tinting your car. Almost everyone who has 335i is doing that. Your argument with TT A5 is kinda
I have seen what chipped 335i can do, and I won't even touch them in my IS350. All I was saying is 335 is hard to beat when it comes to value and performance.

Back to topic, I said 50K for S5 is a very good value for a drop dead sexy coupe.

Lexus, we need more coupe if you are listening.

I agree that most cars on the dealer lots are loaded with options. But as far as pricing is concerned, 335i is more comparable to the A5 than the S5.

Performance wise, the the 335i will blow away the A5 PERIOD. Heck, it's been proven numerous times that even the S5 can't keep up (both straight line speed and road course) with the 335i.

It's a beautiful car though.

I'm not a fan of that design by the looks on the internet...but who knows could turn out beautiful in real life. Especially with Audis and the way they drive and how nice their interiors are.... but with that said, hate to be a magazine racer but I would want a E90 335i w/ the M-sport package than the S5.

It's like deciding whether to have $100 in cash or $100 in a Visa gift card.

I think S5 looks super sexy, but in terms of value, it's hard to compete with 335i.

In real life, if you are willing to do European Delivery, you can get a loaded 335i for about 45k OTD. And a loaded S5 for what? 60K OTD?
If the S5 will do 0-60 in 4.9 seconds I'm pretty sure I don't want to drive a car that makes it look like it's "standing still". You must be the real Stig-who knew?
