BMW 1 Series Brochures - 3 Versions to View
While we wait for BMW North America to release the American version of the 2008 BMW 1 Series brochures you can see three different European 1 Series brochures as well as an accessories brochure at: http://www.bmw135i.net/info/European-BMW1Series.htm.
I hope that the diesel versions of the 1 Series eventually get to the USA..59 MPG sounds very good to me.

Dunno.. I came across a 1 series hatchback this afternoon. Wasn't really feeling it. (Much smaller than I anticipated)
I was more concerned with the camouflaged Mini Cooper it was following.
This looks like it might be some fun... (terrorizing IS350's & G35's )

BMW 1-series to hit U.S. shores under $30,000

The 1-series, as sold in the U.S., will come only in coupe form, but will have the option of two different six-cylinder engines. The base 128i model will have 230hp, while the 135i will share a motor with the 335i boasting a conservatively-specified 300hp. Expect 0-60mph to come in 5.1s in the 135i, and 6.1s in the 128i. Aimed at a younger demographic, BMW is mum on projected sales volume, but expects the 1-series to play a “big role” in the U.S.
The most ground-breaking statistic, however, is not the performance, but the price: the base 128i will start under $30,000, with the hotted-up 135i starting in the mid-$30,000s. BMW assures us that the 1-series will be on par with the quality of the 3- and 5-series as well - no cost-cutting here. Compare this with Lexus’ statement that breaking below the $30,000 mark is not an option. As Mercedes has gone down-market with its U.S. offerings and budget-oriented marques like Mazda are offering serious sports cars at cut-rate prices, BMW is finally yielding to pressure to break the $30,000 psychological barrier. One thing it’s impossible to argue with: BMW quality for sub-Lexus price. The U.S. sport-luxury market just got a lot more interesting.

It's really not a whole lot cheaper than the 3-series. Seems like ~5k less when comparably equipped in terms of options and motor.
I think it's funny how the 0-60 time BMW quotes for the 135i is 5.1 seconds. The 335i is already faster than that in almost every magazine test to date (4.8 is the lowest I've seen). Unless the 1-series has some traction issues, it's going to be a 4.x second car no matter who tests it. Probably 4.5-4.6 seconds.

3 series starts at $32400, I was hoping the 1 series would start at about $27K before they run the price up with 100 different options [isn't it a LOT cheaper to prdouce a car with minimal options like Acura does with the TL/TSX -- 1 option -- Navigation]
I bet it'll be $40K easy for the 135i.
Those tails look SO MUCH BETTER than the 3 series!! thank god!!!
