Default ARCO Gas...

Do you guys get gas from ARCO? Once I was telling a friend of mine who is a chemist that I get less mileage on ARCO vs Shell. He said it contains more ethanol blend than the usual so it burns off faster. Any truth in that?

I am not planning to put ARCO gas in my IS. Just curious. Thanks

Arco does use a generic add pack to meet the minimum EPA cleanliness requirement. And I do notice crappy MPG on Arco, only thing I would run it in is a lawnmower...

I used acro last week. I was out of gas and was desperate. I only pumped $5 because it was enough gas for me to get to the Chevron station down the street

Very rarely for me. I only use Arco if I'm somewhere in need of gas and I can't find a Chevron or 76 close by.

I used to use ARCO for years. Whatever occurred with the ethanol the last few years showed a obvious difference in MPG for our cars. I have since stopped and have used Shell exclusively. While there are still some variations I encounter county wide, it is pretty consistent. To me, ARCO's 91 premium performs more like a mid-grade 89 gas.

ARCO only for emergencies.

Otherwise, I choose either Chevron, 76, or Shell...

Used Arco once, burned almost as fast as Costco gas in my area (around 200 per tank). I use Cheveron (with Techron ) and also Shell and I usually get around 275

Horrible milage but its consistent. Gonna seafoam it soon...so hopefully it'll get better...

I'd take Arco over Pemex any day. Used to be good stuff, even when they went to low sulfur Premium, but can't stand the stuff again.

Thanks for all the information. I use Shell exclusively on the IS. But for the longest time on our New Beetle we used to pump Arco. Then the lines in the gas station became unbearably long. Now Shell or nothing. Chevron premium is about 20-25 cents more than Shell here in South San Jose.

The only cheap gas I use is either Costco or Rotten Robbie.
