Nothing wrong with that. The navigation in my '06 Explorer is excellent.

What about aesthetics? I simply am not a fan of the double humps in BMW and Benz dashs with Nav.

It is a trade off. You want fingerprints and glare, and a locked out nav system?

Or a proper height, no glare, no fingerprints, everything enabled while driving kind of experience.

Clearly people have likes and dislikes for both. The Germans must really believe in the double humps as the S dash is very similar to the 7 dash. The Japanese seen to use touchscreens instead.

Whats funny is the RX 300 had the HVAC controls in 1999 and added NAV in 2001 in a spot similar to what the Germans did with the S and 7.

I guess all the companies are trying to figure out which method is best.

yeah. The MDX has a hump now. The new BMWX5 has the hump removed with a slightly lowered screen. I like that location best.
