But I can see a cop being able to pull someone over for seeing someone on a phone. I see alot of out of staters pulling to the side of the road to make phone calls in MA. I personally don't like to use my phone while driving anyway, so I'm for the law that only hands free phones can be used.

If talking is dangerous, teens eternally texting one another has to be worse. In a restaurant the other night a couple of busboys were busily texting with their heads down, oblivious to all around them. Turns out they were texting EACH OTHER - based on reactions. All of that technology and massive infrastructure for sending a six letters about 12 feet. sup dog?

Even with laws in place, it's going to be very hard to enforce. Here in Yuma on the Marine air station it is illegal to use a cellphone while driving unless its a hands-free device, and it has to be COMPLETELY hands-free.
I cannot count on my hands how many times a week I see someone driving and talking; people of responsibility on this base blatantly disregarding a military regulation, despite having the position to enforce it. Personally, I'll stop someone given the chance, and I have. Call it a jarhead mentality if you like, but if you're going to be stupid, don't do it on my watch or on my base. They should really give select citizens a detaining authority for select traffic violations.
Cell phones have become far too important if we're making legislation to restrict them.

No kidding, I saw the EXACT same thing before too, this girl was weaving in her lane, going back and forth, sometimes halfway into the other lane and halfway off the shoulder. Did she bother to look up and put her phone down? Nope, she continued to go at it and just adjust the wheel whenever she strayed "too" far out of her lane. I got past her as fast as possible, and got a good 100+ foot distance on her to be safe. It amazes me to what point people are brave enough to drive and do stupid things like that. If i were a cop i would pull her over and give her such a long speech, or hell, even ticket her for endangering others on the road. She was afterall DWT, which is an impairment while driving.

Well, really the worst combo is a lack of paitence and the idea that the phone has to be used right NOW...while you're driving, rather than wait a couple of munutes. A lot of people today seem to have the attitude that all of their personal yakking has Emergency-911 importance. That seems to be the case with people of all ages, not just seniors.
