I guess a lot of people in Canada are now going to the US, for a Lexus to try and save a lot of cash. I bet if you go to New Hampshire to get your Lexus, you probably would get the same quality of Lexus, that you would find in Canada. Seeing it snows there. Not sure about the winter though.

Honestly Toyota / Lexus Canada should really start lowering the prices, hopefully in the next coming months in the dollar does stay at the 1=1.

The industries in Canada been making a killing off people for way too many years.

wow i guess it's definitely putting a dent on lexus of canada huh? the US$ continues to go weak, hopefully that will help. it's indeed funny for people to cross the border to buy cars

Well Toyota already lowered the price of the Prius (by as much as $4,000). It's on par with the Camry Hybrid but starts at a lower price Cdn$29,500. (Yeah I know it's still higher than a compartively equipped US car but better than a base price of $31,280)

Interesting, details of Canada-spec Lexus vehicles, I thought this was about the Cambridge planet, but those are made IN Canada...both can probably be made FOR Canada.

More and more people are importing cars from the US. I'll try and find a short list of the things that need to be done prior to importing, I just need to search through a 200+ page thread on importing =)

With some Subaru's (Legacy GT) and Sienna XLE's, its not unheard of to save upwards of $10k.

6.1% tax on any car NOT made in Canada, USA or Mexico. Even then, you can save $8k on an ES350 for example. A loaded Cdn ES350 is $55,350 before tax. A loaded ES350 in the US (without PCS and Dynamic Radar CC) is US$44k before tax. Even with the conversion, GST, PST and Duty, you're ahead. i.e. we pay less out-the-door than the MSRP BEFORE taxes up here.

The only difference btwn a standard US ES and a Canadian ES is that you guys get a single CD player and we get a 6-disc CD Changer

Yep... on a BMW 335i, you can save $15k (assuming you price them with identical options)

It's not as easy & straight forward as some of you think, lots of hassles even if you can find a U.S dealer that's willing to sell a new car to Canadians, it may be worth it for some but not for others. Hey there guys. Just joined the forums from Vancouver,BC.
My dad owns an LS460, and I own a G35.

My dad actually imported his from the US. We saved about $20,000. We got lucky though because they did not charge us customs even though the car is built in Japan. The only catch to buying from the US is that Lexus will not sell a Canadian a brand new car. Although a dealer in michigan phoned us after we purchased the vehicle saying he found a way to sell us a new car. The car is a 2007 LS460 Verdigris Mica/Alabaster with Nav/ML/APGS/Comfort. It had 3100 miles at purchase. It was tough finding a car with the right options and color, and in the end we had to settle for no comfort plus package. My dad checked to see if any dealers in Vancouver had any demos, and the sales person sorta laughed and said they barely have any new ones for sale, yet alone a demo.

The car so far has been great. We took it for a 3 and a half hour trip to Pentiction and it was excellent. Very quiet and quite fast for its size.

Thanks. I'll try to convince him to go but hes going to Egypt for 2 weeks in late October and early November. He would never let me drive it either, unless he was in the passanger seat.

I forgot to mention that the day we were importing it, one guy was also importing a MB SL65 AMG. It was quite a beast. Apparently like 200 people a day import cars through Blaine, WA.
