Infiniti Eyes Expansion, Promises More Models by 2010
September 19th, 2007 10:40 AM
More crossovers, a sports car and a high-end car are on the top of Infinit’s list for expanding the current model line according to an Automotive News report. Carlos Tavares, Nissan Motor Corporation’s executive vice president for product planning, hinted at expansion efforts during an interview with Automotive News at the Frankfurt auto show.
Expanding the reach of the Infiniti brand is key to increasing global sales numbers. To this end, the brand will appear in Western Europe next fall. The brand already has a presence in South Korea, China, and Russia, but the goal is to reach 90 percent, or more, of the luxury market around the world in 2010.
The brand’s offerings will expand by 50 percent in the same timeframe. Currently, Infiniti has six models, including the new EX35 which is scheduled to go on sale in December.

Neither. You should know that these are not press releases. They are news reports from independent agencies. Infiniti has nothing to do with this.
A useless press release would be something like explaining what the plural version of a brand name is.

Only a gap in N.Amerca, they are still selling the Nissan badged version plus the even higher end Nissan President(basically a longer plusher Q45) in Japan & some Asian countries ...

Currently, the Lexus lineup is eight model series...
The Infiniti lineup has the G35/37, M35/45, FX35/45, QX56, and the latest, the EX35. That's 5 different letter combos, although with engine variations that is more models.
Adding a new crossover seems to be the EX35, then a new Q possibly, and a sports car. Could be around 10 or so.

If I were them I would add a hybrid before Acura does and ****** the customers. However, I guess they would have to pay Toyota for extending the license of the hybrid synergy drive to another vehicle.

I dont think people would really wanna pay for an infiniti "flagship" just like nobody want's to buy an Acura RL. It's a 2nd tier luxury brand that people just probably wouldn't pay more than 50 or 60k for. They should work on improving their M line cars and keep those as their flagship for now and maybe add more versions of their G line like a convertible G coupe and maybe a twin turbo version, maybe bring out some sportier crossovers too.
