Good news, no VQ motor.

This means it won't sound like it's yawning!

(I hate the way the VQ sounds)

I actually like the stock exhaust note on the VQ. Its no V-8 but it sounds good to me.

They still don't sound the same as the G35 coupe's though, it's deeper & throatier
I test drove a G37 coupe a couple weeks ago & its exhaust note doesn't sound as good as the G35 coupe's

Really? Its lower in volume or just sounds weaker?

That I can agree with. With 50 trillion VQs driving around, you do hear them daily

It sounds a little more refined, not as deep & throaty.

I am kind of getting tired about this, it has been too long for they to launch the GTR... bring it on already!!!
but at least a good news is they won't use the VQ!!

I really don't like the VQ exhaust sound either, not matter which VQ car we're talking about. Sometimes the exhaust sounds like a vacuum cleaner, and sometimes it sounds like a person with a dry throat. I also don't like the fact that the exhaust makes a dry growl noise even when only cruising at 40 mph. I feel the exhaust should only growl when the engine is revved, not when cruising at low RPMs.

Gettin on-topic, I have my doubts that the GT-R's engine is based off of the VR. Anything is possible, but I doubt it simply because the VR was a custom-built racing engine made specifically for the Le Mans R390 machine. Also the VR was a V8 twin turbo engine displacing 3.5L. Perhaps the GT-R's engine is based on the VR is some way, but I highly doubt it's directly related to the VR. We will see soon enough what engine is in there.

If my math is correct, 480 PS should be equivalent to 353kW which is approximately 473 HP.

EDIT: Calculations:

PS to kW : 480 * 0.735 (can't remember the rest) = 353 kW * 1.34 = 473 HP. (not sure if the multiplied factors are accurate though since this was material from well over a year ago)
