only 1500 will be made for the US, got it from a good source, paying 70k for a nissan people will still buy it. only certain dealerships will probably get 1 or 2 some will get nothing. also the lexus gt-f that is coming out with 500+ hp and is going to cost about 200k, with that kind of money i could get a 911. i know alot of poeple love bashing on nissan here since is a lexus forum. give nissan a break they are bring GODZILLA here.

I think everyone appreciates the performance behind the GT-R. :P

It looks good but it maybe a tough sell at 70K especially at Nissan dealerships, I think because of its price it should be allowed to be serviced at Infiniti dealerships. Those rims look great on the car. It is good that they say the designers strengthened the engine and left room for the aftermarket to tune it because many feared the VQ would not be able to handle the high horsepower much less aftermarket increases. I was just at the bookstore reading some articles on the new GTR and some are estimating it will have over 500hp to outgun the viper, Z06, and Mustang GT500.

If its over 500HP - it would be worth paying $70K... Not to mention - more power to come from aftermarket tuners.. -- Good thing I have teir 1 credit with Nissan/Infiniti financial - I'm gonna need it!!

Here's hoping they slap a good stereo in there. If it's a Bose, it better match the specialness/uniqueness of the car.

I bet it won't be too long after the GT-R's release that we see posts with crazy accident pictures of them.

Car looks good. I like seeing real life pics of it rather than those studio type pics. I dont really like the wheels though, for some reason they just dont do it for me. I like the big Brembo brakes behind there though!

I would hope they sell all 1500 of them, 1500 is not alot of cars at all even by high priced sports car standards. I hope they are successful with this car as people have been begging for it to come here and will most likely spark some rival models from Toyota, Mazda, and Honda. Maybe even Mitsubishi and Subaru will try a crack at the two door high performance sports car/coupe market again.

the 1500car thing is a rumor started by us magazines. it has no real basis.
nissan has not yet disclosed production #s, sales targets, msrp info, etc.

my best educated guesses point to sub $60k base msrp, well over 5k units/yr in the US alone (possibly nearer to 10k units), 425-450hp, 3.8l vq35hr based tt engine, attesa ets pro + active steer, full lcd based telemetry w/ pc link.

again those are guesses but they're based on everything nissan has officially stated and released. we probably wont know much more until late october when all the official info comes out. sales will start this fall though in japan and in the spring in the us.

fwiw there is at least some merit to the argument that the gt-r is still technically based off of the skyline, since the skyline is the g35 and the g35 is the car that forms the basis on which other fm cars come from. having said that though, they wont share the same chassis, engine, suspension etc and there will likely be significant fundamental differences in some cases.
