why does everyone think this is going to be a lot faster than a 335, when the reported specs have it's curb weight basically the same?
not a retort, just a question....

So despite whatever curb weights may be published, I'd be shocked if, on the scales, the 135i wasn't at least 200 pounds lighter than a comparably equipped 335i.

I still hate everything that's associated with the name "BMW", though, so I say no thanks. (That plus, like I said, it's godawful to look at. And that's a huge turnoff.) If I wanted a fun, lightning-quick, and small car, I'd just get a Corvette as a weekend car, and keep the IS for DD.
EDIT: And there's no way in hell this car is going to be $28K... low-to-mid 30s base price, best case scenario.

2 - corvette is not in the same price range OR the same size
3 - guessing on pricing is always a waste of space unless you have inside info on features [ie: standard nav system or how packages will be put together]. it could be very likely that just to get them on the street bimmer may price them very economically for the 1st yr or so
as for my opinion of it ... i like the idea, but will refrain from passing judgement until i drive one

I kinda like it. The shape of the body kinda reminds me of the E46 M3. With the amount of power potential this car has (same engine as 335i?), I'd rather get this car and chip it than get the 335i. Same engine, same chip, same power, less weight = one hell of a quick car.
And before I get flamed, in no way am I saying that I don't like the 335i coupe nor am I saying that this car is anything comparable (yet) to the E46 M3. Just saying let's not kick this car to the curb yet. I agree with a lot of the responses here... this car is going to be an awesome seller. People are going to want this car (girls for the cuteness lol, and racing enthusiasts for the vast amount of potential this car holds).
