It seems like a lot of car reviewers are saying that M3 isnt as hardcore as it used to be
but it just seems to me that they didnt play enough with the traction control settings and so on
Fifth Gear's Tiff takes it for a drift and shows just how much fun u can still have in this new M3

you cant really tie drifting to how hardcore a car is in handling. Reviewers say its less hardcore in the sense that the suspension is softer than the outgoing E46. That is one of my pet peeves when some driver in a video wants to review a car and they start drifting it, which means nothing

That pretty much summarizes it perfectly. I put a deposit down the day after the salesguy told me I could. I'm pumped & looking forward to it. Hopefully the DCT (Dual Clutch Tranny) will be available at the U.S. launch otherwise I'll wait for that. I guess I was one of the few that loved the smg2 on the e46 M3.

I remember when the E46 M3 was first reviewed by the US car magazines - most of them said it wasn't as well balanced as the E36 in the handling department, but now it seems the E46 is being used as the benchmark.

i dont think M3 should be made for carnuts
if BMW is to succeed in the automotive world, they have to target the yuppies demography with the M3 and it has to be comfortable enough for daily use
it should be the M3 CLS that should be the ultra-hardcore, teeth shattering, hip breaking, firm and lightweight sports car

And it will always be a benchmark. I'm a BENZ freak and I love what AMG did with the C63 but when it comes down to it the M3 has alot of heitage behind it and being BMW and knowing that you set a benchmark in a segment with so much recent competition has to feel good.
